Careers at Gardening Sydney
Do the best gardening work of your life, in Sydney's best gardens.
We're a specialist garden maintenance company – mowing, pruning, hedging and grounds care across the Northern Beaches, North Shore, Eastern Suburbs and Inner West. We're growing, and we're looking for gardeners who care about the standard.
Why work here
The perks, straight up
We asked the crew what actually matters day to day. This is the list they gave us – no corporate fluff.
Sydney's best gardens, daily
Your office is the Northern Beaches, North Shore and Eastern Suburbs – clifftop homes, harbourfront gardens, established estates. You'll maintain properties most people only see in magazines.
Company ute, yours on weekends
Every full-time crew member gets a late-model ute to take home, usable on weekends for your own runs. Fuel card included for work use.
Above award pay, reviewed yearly
We pay above the Horticulture Award from day one, with a pay review every 12 months and bonuses for the quarter's best-presented sites.
New, quality equipment
Stihl and Honda hand tools, serviced on schedule and replaced before they get tired. Ride-on operators run modern zero-turns, not hand-me-downs.
Solo days and crew days
Some runs are yours alone – your sites, your standard, your music in the ute. Bigger jobs and ride-on days run as a two or three-person crew.
Real autonomy in the role
You manage your own run and your own sites. We set the standard and the schedule; how you sequence the day is up to you.
A typical day
What the role actually looks like
- Start from the Northern Beaches depot – or straight from home if your run allows it.
- Run a set route of regular maintenance clients who know you by name.
- Mow, edge, prune, hedge, weed and present each garden to a photo standard.
- Lunch wherever the run takes you.
- Flag issues and opportunities on site; quote requests go straight to Tom or Jamie.
- Knock off on time. Overtime is optional and always paid.

Is this you?
Who thrives on our crew
- You take pride in a crisp edge and notice when a hedge is off level.
- Horticulture qualifications or solid maintenance experience – or a genuine work ethic and willingness to learn the trade properly.
- A current driver's licence and confidence behind a ute and trailer.
- You like working outdoors in all seasons and managing your own day.
- You're reliable – clients plan their week around your visit, and so do we.
Not a perfect match but love the sound of it? Apply anyway – attitude beats a resume here.
